I'm pondering doing some HWS teams in a different style than the rest of my army. Different uniforms, weapons, kit, etc. I'd like to use some non-GW minis if I can do that without selling my motorcycle to pay for it. Anybody have any recommendations? I'm thinking specifically of mortar teams as I don't have any of those currently.

So, things aren't going very well on this front. Most of my sources of cheap miniatures have dried up. Thankfully I remembered our old German friend having used old Mutant Chronicles Warzone minis for his army. Now, the new Warzone minis are too big, but I found that Prince August still does classic Warzone. A shitton of minis for a rather fair price really. You may find it on Ebay as well.

To be exact, that's 40 single-pose Bauhaus Hussars (sergeant w/MP-105, heavy w/MG-80 and hussars w/Panzerknackers) and 40 single-pose Imperial Trenchers (sergeant w/Agressor, heavy w/Charger mmg and trenchers w/Invaders). Still, those are good looking troops.

Also, while Bolt Action has some neat-looking and fairly cheap minis (in area of 20 pounds for 30-odd troops), they're way too small for 40k use (the 28mm 1/56 scale is about 2/3 of GWs 28mm heroic).

I guess e-bay is the friendliest place money-wise.
